Big D's Wind & Waves Course (BCU 3 Star Paddling) - $99.00 - lunch included

Pre-requisite - Big D's Flat-Water Kayaking Curriculum,
There are no new strokes taught in this class. All the paddling strokes needed to be successful in the open water are taught in the pre-requisite courses. This class is about applying those skills in a more difficult environment.  And, each class will be taught a bit differently, focused on the environment we have on that specific day.  We intend to cover:

• Surf launches
• Surf landings
• Effective bracing in waves. 
• When to use a bow rudder versus a low brace turn. 
• When to use a hanging draw. 
• Effective use of a stern rudder
• Effective bracing in waves. 
• Effective stopping in wind & waves. 
• Ken Fink's secret to comfortably paddling in wind and waves. 
• A bit about waves: deep water, shallower water, wind driven, reflective, refractive, and how to predict
• Practical, on-the-water navigation.
• What gear you should take with you.
• Rescues in rough water
• Towing in rough water
• A bunch of other stuff I'll remember after I commit this to the web site.
